RESEARCH AGENDA

My research agenda focuses on understanding human behavior in digital environments across the African diaspora, with particular attention to how online experiences shape psychological well-being, identity, and social engagement. My work is organized around three core areas:

  • Digital Harm & Psychological Outcomes: Investigating the mental health impact of radicalized online content
  • Identity Formation: Understanding how digital environments influence identity formation and belonging across the African diaspora
  • Platform Governance, Policy, and Systems-Level Interventions: Examining how social media platforms, legal frameworks, and public health systems can mitigate exposure to harmful digital content and promote psychological resilience across affected populations

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that every student has the capacity to learn. My goal is to create learning environments that are responsive, engaging, and connected to real-world contexts. My approach is informed by Piaget's Theory of Cognitive Development, emphasizing that students learn best through active engagement and application. I prioritize experiential learning by integrating case-based discussions, real-world scenarios, and reflective dialogue into my instruction. Drawing on my clinical background, I bring applied knowledge into the classroom, challenging students to think critically about systems, policy, and practice. I aim to create space for multiple perspectives to encourage critical thinking and support students in developing their professional identity. My goal is to prepare students to operate effectively in complex and challenging situations.
