While attending Loyola University, I worked with the Women's Resource Center as a work study applicant. During this time, I spread awareness regarding the legal and personal ramifications associated with intimate partner violence, while also advertising and writing speeches for Take Back The Night, Loyola's Feminist Festival, and events celebrating instructors associated with the Center's cause. I conducted interviews and sought to highlight efforts taken by members of New Orleans's wider community relating to poverty reduction and advocacy for victims of abuse.
During the summer months of my high school career I would work on my family's tree farm, pruning younger trees, stacking, and splitting cordwood. I worked 6-8 hour shifts in this manner.
My family donated Christmas trees to the non-profit L'arche, in Portland Oregon. I would volunteer some winters, selling trees and operating the cash register.
