As an only child of two working-class parents from Canton, North Carolina, I learned the value of hard work, faith, and community. From early mornings in the gym to late nights studying, I developed the discipline and perseverance I needed to play two collegiate sports and excel in the classroom. My experiences on a baseball field and a golf course have taught me the importance of teamwork, resilience, and humility—qualities that have guided me on my journey toward a career in medicine today.
After sustaining several sports-related injuries, I became fascinated by orthopedics and the body's capacity to heal. Time spent with athletic trainers and orthopedic specialists revealed to me the power of hands-on care, patient connection, and attention to the whole person, not just the injury. My biology studies strengthened my scientific understanding of the human body, and my athletic and personal experiences revealed to me the importance of treating mind, body, and spirit as a unified whole. This realization is what draws me to osteopathic medicine.
My Faith has grounded me throughout my life, reminding me that every act of care is to resemble the way that Jesus served us here on Earth. It motivates me to use my future skills to help others, especially in communities like the one that raised me. I hope to return to a rural area where I can provide high-quality, holistic care to people who may not have otherwise had access, serving not only as a physician but also as a neighbor, ambassador, and advocate for quality healthcare.
From the fields and fairways of my youth to the labs and clinics that inspire me now, I have learned that medicine, like faith and sport, is ultimately about restoration. Osteopathic medicine aligns perfectly with my belief that every patient deserves care that recognizes the whole person. I'm eager to bring the lessons of faith, discipline, and service that have defined my journey to a career dedicated to helping others live healthy and fulfilling lives as God intended us to.
