Accomplished in leading compliance examinations and mentoring teams, my career spans roles from Branch Manager at American General Financial Services to Senior Commissioned Compliance Examiner at the CFPB. Recognized for exceptional report writing and stakeholder engagement, I've spearheaded critical regulatory compliance initiatives, significantly enhancing consumer financial protection.
As a Senior Commissioned Compliance Examiner with the CFPB, I lead teams of up to 10 examiners in completing examinations of complex depository and non-depository institutions, identifying violations of Consumer financial protection laws and risks of harm to consumers. I assist the supervisory team with the identification of risks in the institutional product lines, and determining the scope of review during the examination planning processes. With minimal supervision, I managed the examination functions, which include communicating exam requests to the institutions, assigning work to team members, tracking examination progress and reassigning work, if needed, training assisting examiners, conducting routine meetings with internal stakeholders and senior management at institutions, presenting examination findings, and drafting Supervisory Letters.
I also complete periodic monitoring activities at the largest, most complex financial institutions. I review compliance-related materials produced by institutions to identify potential violations of Federal consumer financial protection law, and risks of consumer harm.
Additionally, I complete follow-up examination activities to determine if institutions appropriately and timely resolved previously identified violations of Federal consumer financial protection law.
My subject matter expertise, communication skills, exam management skills, and passion for the work have lead to my success as an Examiner in Charge and as a Team Lead. I have completed the most Examiner in Charge assignments in the Southeast Region and consistently receive positive feedback from team members, internal stakeholders, and institutions' senior management for analytical skills, oral and written communications skills, efficient time management, and quality results.
As a Senior Financial Examiner at the North Carolina Commissioner of Banks, I led and/or participated in examinations of small to large and complex financial institutions licensed to originate and service mortgage loans in the State of North Carolina. As Examiner-in-Charge, I led teams of up to nine assisting examiners by distributing work, setting and monitoring deadlines, providing training, when necessary to meet examination deadlines. I assessed compliance with State and Federal consumer financial protection laws, drew conclusions about materials reviewed, presented findings to internal stakeholders and financial institution senior management and prepared written reports. Written reports summarized the scope of the examinations, violations of State and Federal law, and required corrective actions.
I also served in the capacity of Review Examiner, reviewing examination reports drafted by Examiners-in-Charge as well as the examination teams' supporting documentation to ensure findings were appropriately supported and cited accurately.
Additionally, I reviewed regulated entities responses to Reports of Examination to evaluate the adequacy of corrective actions taken in response to violations cited after examinations.
I joined American General Financial Services as a Manager Trainee in July 1999. I was promoted to a Branch Manager in May 2001, three months ahead of the standard timeframe for the Trainee program. As Branch Manager, I managed a staff of up to five employees, including interviewing and selecting employees, training, assigning goals, counseling on performance, and completing and presenting performance evaluations. As a team, my staff and I met objectives and goals relating to sales, credit quality, delinquency, expense management, and branch profitability. I also made loan decisions up to established lending limits, conducted outside sales calls for business development, and completed outside collections. Additionally, I was responsible for ensuring compliance with State and Federal consumer financial protection laws, and served as the primary point of contact for internal audits and annual regulatory examinations.
I managed three branches during my tenure at the company, with each new assignment as a promotion to a larger branch. In 2003, based on branch performance, I won a Best Operators Award. After constistantly demonstrating my ability to run a profitable branch while training staff and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, I was promoted to Certification Center Manager (CCM) in 2004 . As a CCM, I assessed Manager Trainees' knowledge of company policies and procedures, observed sales and collections performance, and made recommendations related to promotions to Branch Manager.
