Assists surgeon with hemostasis, provide retraction, help maintain sterile field, ensure all equipment and suppl needed for each surgery are available and working properly, help position and prep patient for surgery, close layers as directed by surgeon, apply sterile dressings, turnover rooms between each case and anything else within my scope of practice that helps facilitate surgery. I am new to this title, having just finished school and earned my certification in July of 2025.

Ensure all equipment and supplies needed for each surgery are properly working and available, maintain sterility while opening as well as during entirety of procedure, aid in patient positioning, prepping, and draping for surgeries, assist surgeon by retraction, suctioning, etc during surgery within my scope, aid in room turnovers, well as teach new students and teach others to assist.

All duties within the scope of practice as a CST. I was a travel tech with Aya and took assignments in Asheville, NC, at W

UNC Wayne, and Novant in Wilmington NC. I was expected to have limited orientation at each facility and be able to step in to any listed specialty immediately. I took call at each facility, and performed all duties within a CSTs scope of practice.

Performed all duties within the scope of practice of a CST including set up for surgeries, maintain sterile technique, ensuring all needed supplies and equipment were available and working properly, assisting surgeon during surgery, room turnover, teaching new employees, students, nurses and residents how to scrub and maintain sterility. I helped new surgeons acclimate, set up preference cards, and created trays based off of their needs for their special, specifically pediatric. I scrubbed multiple specialties including general, gynecology, vascular, maxillofacial, thoracic, urology, and pediatrics.
