  • I started in 2017 on AMSU (adult med surge).
  • My duties included getting vitals, blood sugars, ambulate as necessary, chart ADL's, bathe the patients or change their linens, and help the nurses with anything else they may need.
  • In January 2019 I transferred to CVICU and started working there as a PCT.
  • My duties included passing meal trays, blood sugars, ambulating with the nurse, stocking, making patient packets, making phone calls, answering the phone (we do not have a HUC), changing the doctors if needed, helping with ADL's the patient may need, break down patient rooms after the patient leaves, helping in emergency situations such as an open chest or code blue (any emergency really).
  • I also set up the rooms for the surgeries that day, pull kits that we use to set up for the surgeries.
  • For non-surgical patients I will make sure the nurse has everything they need in the room before the patient arrives and then I will help get the patient settled.
  • With the surgery patients I will help get them settled and send off labs.
  • I also help the nurses transport the patient to MRI, X ray, ultrasound, etc.
  • If needed I will run to the blood bank and get what is ordered if the tube station is down or there is an emergency.
  • I help the nurses with patients that have a balloon pump, impella, CRRT, LVAD (new or not new), and also ECMO.
  • I am very familiar with the equipment that is used in the ICU.
  • I learned a lot while working in the ICU.
