After Being a sales associate for five years. I wanted to move onto something that gave me much curiosity, the wine business. Growing up close to Napa Valley I always had interest in joining the industry. My job at Chatham Hill Winery started at the bottom from helping in the tasting room. Then I moved onto helping with the winemaking process. After 6 years I had moved up to being the winemaker.
Being a winemaker , or vintner. I am responsible for overseeing the production of wine, blending science, art, and agricultural knowledge to create high-quality products. This role involves managing every step of the winemaking process, from grape cultivation and harvest to fermentation, aging, and bottling. I have worked closely with vineyard managers to select the best grape varieties and determine the optimal timing for harvest based on ripeness and quality.
I have used expertise in chemistry and fermentation science to monitor and control the winemaking process, ensuring consistency and quality while developing unique flavor profiles. I also maintain and operate equipment, manage cellar staff, and adhere to strict sanitation and regulatory standards.
In addition to technical responsibilities, I often collaborate with marketing teams to develop product lines and may represent their brand at tastings, events, and trade shows. Strong analytical skills, creativity, and a passion for wine are essential to thrive in this role, as is a willingness to work long hours during the harvest season.
