Dedicated and empathetic SLP-Assistant aiming to deliver quality support in speech and language therapy by implementing treatment plans and aid in improving communication for patients.
As I near graduation from the Fayetteville Technical Community College Speech and Language Pathology Assistant program, I am looking forward to bringing my skills and dedication to your team. With nearly two decades of work experience in various health related settings, and current hands-on clinical as an SLP-Assistant intern, I am confident in my ability to be an effective, productive, and positive team member. During my clinical internship, I have an opportunity to work with children with a variety of delays and disorders including autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, articulation, language, voice, and fluency, while utilizing the Picture Exchange Communication System and other high-tech communication devices in some cases. I am able to implement therapy following the protocol laid out by my supervising SLP, collect data, adjust techniques to meet individual therapy needs and goals, provide clerical support, and manage and organize materials. With a background as a licensed massage therapist and certified surgical technologist, I developed strong skills in working closely with patients and interdisciplinary teams, manage time effectively, and remain calm under pressure. These experiences have shown me the importance of patient-centered care, empathy, compassion, and the ability to adapt to diverse needs. Additionally, my background has equipped me with the organizational and interpersonal skills required to support a speech language pathologist and deliver therapy that meets clients where they are. Combined with my educational training in speech and language pathology and hands-on clinical experiences, these qualities will transfer into my role as an SLP-Assistant, traits I am eager to bring to your team. I am committed to my growth as an SLP-Assistant and will continue the learning process so that I may serve my clients to the best of my abilities and make meaningful contributions to your team. I welcome the opportunity to discuss my background, skills, and training and how they may align with what you are looking for in an SLP-Assistant.
