As General Manager, I was the face of the business, responsible for maintaining a clean and pleasant working environment for both our staff and members. I handled all membership sales, along with bookkeeping, billing, social media, inventory and facility cleaning and maintenance! Member and prospect follow-ups via texts/phone calls and emails required much of my attention throughout the day as well!
I loved the atmosphere of this job, from my coworkers to the members, but unfortunately there was little room for growth in this position with this company, especially in our area. It was a good transition for me after being completely consumed with work and travel from my previous employer, but lacked the benefits and financial stability I was accustomed to receiving and needed going forward. It also was not fast paced enough for my skill set and not as challenging as I'd like.

I was also responsible for the recruiting, hiring and training of all new part time and full time employees - including Store Managers! In this role I was expected to hit specific individual and store specific sales goals, and I consistently met or exceeded these expectations throughout my tenure!
Clearwater store was the store that I was initially assigned to help turn around when I moved there in April 2021. At the time, it ranked 13th out of 20 stores in the District and by the end of December of the same year we finished 3rd in the District in all KPI measurables- which earned me the opportunity to move to a busier, higher volume location and take on more responsibilities within the District.

I began working Part Time with Rack Room Shoes back in 2003 and remained a Part Time employee while working with both the YMCA and GNC until ultimately being offered my first of what would eventually be two stores as General Manager. Before becoming General Manager, I was first promoted to an Assistant Manager role in 2014 and spent roughly a year and a half in that position before being promoted again in early 2015 as the General Manager. After a successful year and a half as General Manager at the Outer Banks location, I was then offered the General Manager position to open a brand-new location at a new Premium Outlet that was being built in Norfolk, VA in 2017, which I accepted! The company eventually paid for my move out of state to Virginia and as General Manager at that location I oversaw a staff of roughly 16 employees and was in charge of all operations within the store including, but not limited to, all opening and closing procedures, the handling of cash, checks and credit cards, making bank deposits, payroll, inventory control, shipping and receiving of freight, ordering all necessary supplies, implementing all current merchandising plans and maintaining a clean and extremely well organized sales floor and stockroom. As the Lead Manager I was responsible for signing up new members to the facility and also renewing yearly and semi-annual contracts. I gave lengthy tours to potential members of the community while establishing a dialogue to better ensure our staff could help meet their individual needs. Multi-tasking was key in this fast-paced position where I supervised all new staff on how to perform the day-to-day duties which included answering endless amounts of phone calls about policy, programs and fees, checking in members, registering new guests and signing up members for the classes and different programs that we offered. After 6 months as the Lead Manager, I was offered the additional role of Amenities Coordinator, and in that position I was responsible for reaching out to local property owners and rental agencies to develop a relationship and partnership that would be mutually beneficial towards both their seasonal rental success and our organizations membership and revenue sales as well!
