The Business Officer is a high level position within the Division of Academic Affairs/POSO and carries out any number of various tasks on a daily basis. The Business Officer position is also responsible for long term planning, in coordination with the Office for Personnel and Resource Administration and Assistant Vice Chancellor. Due to the nature of the position, he/she will perform duties of high intellectual acuity, verifying information is delivered with accuracy and timeliness. This position will act as the primary point of contact for the Office of Personnel and Resource Administration and the Assistant Vice Chancellor and maintains a sense of professionalism at all times.

Duties of the Business Officer include (but not limited to):

- Independently administers human resource policies and procedures for EPA (EHRA - Non-Faculty) and SHRA personnel actions within the Division of Academic Affairs and those within my assigned areas, (including PeopleAdmin actions, EPAFs, compensation forms, etc.)
- Serves as liaison between human resources (employment, benefits, and class and comp) and colleges/administrative areas within Academic Affairs
- Coordinates the criticality process for the Division of Academic Affairs, with direction from the Assistant Vice Chancellor
- Writes/communicates on behalf of the Assistant Vice Chancellor
- Schedules appointments and serve as primary point of contact for the Assistant Vice Chancellor
- Acts as SuperAdmin for Kronos time keeping system for the Office for Personnel and Resource Administration
- Reviews all PCFs and budget transfers within the division for accuracy and serves as approver for those actions
- Manage a dynamic workload and work environment
- Maintain office operations (i.e. sending/receiving mail, ordering supplies, etc.)

HR Coordinator/Business Services Coordinator

As the Business Services Coordinator I manage human resources activities for Academic Library Services as part of the Administrative Services Department. Primary duties include ensuring timely compliance with all ECU human resources procedures and processes, initiating EPAFs, submitting vacancy notices and critical justifications for return of positions, tracking the status of vacant positions, writing and updating position descriptions, assisting hiring managers and search committees, posting vacant positions, reviewing and processing hiring packets, overseeing faculty promotion in rank and advancement in title actions, ensuring that all termination procedures are followed, and ensuring that personnel actions are timely and appropriately managed and communicated to the Division of Academic Affairs. In this position I provide consultation and advice including referrals as appropriate to ALS employees and management on a wide range of employee relations matters. The position works closely with ECU HR personnel (employment, benefits, and class and comp) in carrying out these duties and resolving problems. Other duties include coordinating and assisting with compliance matters; assisting with the development and implementation of existing or new training for ALS employees; developing and delivering recommendations for management consideration; developing orientation sessions for new ALS hires; maintaining the online library staff directory and Intranet resources for ALS employees; managing the Treasured Pirate and other employee recognition programs for ALS; managing confidential records; and assisting the ALS director with projects, meetings, and communications. I work closely with ALS student hiring, payroll, and serve as back up superuser for Kronos, as well as oversight of Administrative Services Department student employees.
