  • Volunteered to make a difference through Career Guidance Outreach Program in 2023.
  • As one of the 63 Grade 11 learners from MSLA, I assisted in delivering eight four-hour workshops to 179 peers.
  • These workshops aimed to inspire learners to pursue tertiary education and prepare them for the academic and personal challenges they might encounter after high school.
  • A key issue we addressed was the high dropout rate of first-year university students in South Africa
  • My responsibilities included presenting key topics such as finding your purpose in life and having a dream, converting Grade 11 school results to Admission Points Score for university entrance ,weighing up:university vs university of technology, thinking about learnerships, funding tertiary studies:bursary information and lastly researching your options:virtual tour on university websites.
  • I was also responsible for facilitating discussions, and providing peer support to learners who were uncertain about their future academic paths.
  • Through this program, I learned to be an empathetic leader, one who listens attentively to others' concerns and offers practical advice. The feedback we received from our peers was overwhelmingly positive, with many students expressing newfound motivation and clarity regarding their future goals.
  • Assisted with special events and programs.

  • Through MSLA ,I participated in the Make Reading Count project, which aimed to tackle the reading-for-meaning crisis among Grade 4 learners in South Africa.
  • This project was especially significant as it focused on a crucial skill essential for academic success—reading comprehension.
  • As a volunteer, I helped organize reading sessions and supported the young students, guiding them through various texts to improve their understanding.
  • My role was to act as a mentor, ensuring that the Grade 4 students not only learned to read but also enjoyed the experience
  • . This initiative allowed me to enhance my communication skills and develop patience, as working with young children demands both.

  • This initiative involved a four-hour workshop where I, along with other MSLA students, voluntarily co-presented to our peers. Our goal was to inspire students to excel in maths and science and encourage them to consider careers in STEM fields.
  • As a co-presenter, I was responsible for preparing materials, collaborating with my fellow learners, and delivering engaging messages.
  • . The program not only boosted my schoolmates' confidence but allowed them to think about their future.
