My time at Precision Wood Cuts started right after I graduated college. I was a full time construction worker, after I was hired at ECU in 2011, then I became part time for Precision Wood Cuts until I returned full time in 2018. I am considered a project supervisor/foreman for this company. I meet with clients on a weekly basis and go over projects they need done such as repairs, remodels, additions and new construction. After meeting with them I am responsible for putting an estimate together with a lot of detail explaining what the scope of work will be and providing a price for that project. If project is accepted then I am responsible for lining up the ordering, delivery and supervising employees to make sure the installation of the materials is correct and up to the national code and standards. I am also responsible for scheduling work on a weekly basis to ensure that our employees have jobs lined up so they do not miss any hours for payroll. Sometimes I am a mediator between clients thought process and realistic expectations and functionality with the products they’ve chosen. I also help design bathroom and kitchen remodels as well as additions and provide a 3d drawing using SketchUp so the customer can visually see their project prior to accepting the estimate. I am also responsible for meeting with third party vendors and going over delivery and ordering of materials and making sure we schedule the work accordingly to fit the arrival time of materials. I am also a worker with over 15 years of construction experience. I am efficient in drywall installation and finishing, tile setting, waterproofing for tile, tile preparation, trim installation, window replacement and installation, all siding repairs and installation, roofing repairs on asphalt shingles as well as rubber roofs and TPDM, door installation, plumbing repairs and installation of drain lines, water supply lines, faucets, tubs, showers. I do preventative maintenance on our vehicles including oil changes, belt changes, spark plug changes as well as repairs to water pumps, fuel pumps, air systems, brake lines, etc. I am also responsible for setting up our technology such as computers, phones, wifi, tvs and low voltage items. I am extremely efficient in all Office products as well as going to school for Information technology - cyber security starting in the summer. I have built my own PCs, type over 80 words per minute and am always willing to learn something new.

During my tenure at Farmville Police Department, I was the sole dispatcher when my shift was going. I was responsible for answering phone calls and sending our officers to the location of the call while trying to get as much information from the caller as possible to ensure the safety of our officers. I was responsible for looking up information for the officers as they requested it in a timely manner so the call was not prolonged or elevated in safety risk. I was responsible for entering in reports on a nightly basis of each call that was responded to. In these reports we would have to include detailed information about what happened and where it happened and who all was involved. Once reports were submitted they had to be checked and approved our supervisor the following shift. In the event of a utilities outage or situation non police related I was responsible for routing the call to the proper department to make sure the citizen was taken care of. We also participated in community service in our town and other cities such as shop with a cop and dudes and donuts at the schools to provide a positive environment for the children. I would also participate in town functions as a representative of the department such as passing out refreshments at the town festival and visiting other town festivals while representing our department.

Roofer

East Carolina University
09.2011 - 06.2017

At East Carolina University, myself along with two other employees were responsible for performing Preventative Maintenance on every building ECU owned on main campus. We had to visually inspect the roofs for damage and debris. Upon finding damage we would have to submit a work order to repair that damage and then we would repair the roof whether it was asphalt shingles, terracotta tile or rubber roofs. We were also responsible for responding to emergent work orders placed by other employees that involved ceiling leaks and/or roof damage. I was responsible for climbing various heights throughout the campus, using heavy machinery such as JLG lifts, scissor lifts and boom trucks. If we were caught up on our Preventative Maintenance then we would help out the carpentry, paint or plumbing division of ECU with projects they had in process.

  • Inspected problem roofs to determine best repair procedures.
  • Installed asphalt shingles, tile and metal roofing systems to manage exterior construction projects of residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Inspected buildings to inspect for water damage, worn out flashing and other signs of roof damage.
  • Consistently adhered to OSHA regulations creating a safe work environment for both crew members and clients alike while protecting company liability risks.
  • Fastened composition shingles and sheets to roof with asphalt, cement and nails.
  • Resolved issues quickly by troubleshooting problems related to leaks, structural damage, or poor workmanship from previous contractors.
