- During my 30 year career, I worked in the Patrol division answering calls for service, investigating crimes, making arrests, conducting traffic enforcement and building relationships with the community I served. I also spent 3 years in Special Operations on the Crime Repression Team conducting property crimes and narcotics investigations in a plain clothes undercover unit.
- I was promoted to Sergeant in 2005 and spend 8 years as a patrol sergeant managing and supervising a patrol squad. I provided guidance and ensured that policy and procedures were followed, supervised training of new officers and ensured calls for service were answered efficiently and crime areas and hot spots were patrolled adequately.
- I was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 2013 and spent 8 months in Legal Process, 2 years in Professional Standards/Internal Affairs and 2 years as a District Assistant Commander.
- In 2018 I was promoted to Captain and assigned as the Professional Standards/Internal Affairs Division commander. i was responsible for overseeing all internal investigations where deputies or detention officers were investigated for policy and procedure violations either from complaints from the public or discovered by other supervisors. I personally investigated officer involved shootings, sexual harassment allegations, violation of the law and conduct unbecoming. I assisted with other investigations when needed. I was the liaison for Sheriff's Standards in Raleigh and was in charge of conducting disciplinary appeal hearings in front of the Sheriff.
- In 2020 I was transferred to Special Operations and oversaw the Major Crimes Investigative Unit, Child Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, Evidence Management and Latent Print Analysis Unit. I over saw the management of the building itself to ensure the facility operated smoothly.
- I retired in December 2022 with 30 years and 1 month of service.
- I remain a part time hire back officer and work 4-6 days per month in Special Operations, destroying drugs.
