The more I practice physical therapy, the more I have figured out my passion: to help people heal. This passion has taken years to diagnosis, but it seems to cross the boundaries of muscle and bone. I have always had a gift for discovering how the body naturally and efficiently moves, but another interest gripped me in college. It was reading. Specifically, it was reading Christian books and counseling books. I enjoy the dynamics of the mind as much as the body. Fast forward to today, I have discovered through my own practice of therapy, how to bring the two much closer together. Through this gifting and passion, I want to help others heal in a way that orthopedic medicine doesn’t seem to understand or describe very well. I hope to one day combine the fields of counseling and physical therapy, so that they almost seem to be one and the same.
As you might see from my story, the two values I hold most dear are harmony and simplicity. I enjoy putting together concepts that cross the boundaries of multiple fields and once taught seem like they have always been known. I think if we do these two things well, results will be much quicker and the work will seem effortless. I enjoy taking these values and not only applying them to patients and to the culture, but to organizations. I delight in making everything more efficient. My time at Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates has allowed me to take these two values and not only make a PT or clinic more successful, but also a company—crossing boundaries and combining fields once again.
