I've spent the last eight years working hard and being reliable to build a successful pipefitting career. I've absorbed a lot of knowledge but, I still understand there is much more to learn. I've worked different systems aboard different naval vessels and have knowledge and familiarity with the paperwork that goes along with the jobs.
I have been working at MHI/Vigor for eight years working my way up from helper to 1st class pipefitter. I've learned how to identify piping systems, read blueprints, and correctly fit pipe. I've redone piping going to pumps as well as installed mods such as steam coolers. I've worked with a range of systems from deck drains to firemain, chill water, and CHT. I have also gotten QA certified with Vigor and have led successful checkpoints. I have familiarity with relevant military standards and have also referenced the 505 and 777. I have led jobs from scoping the job, completing an 06, writing up material, to writing wafs and accomplishing the work. I've dealt with my own material for a job including everything except for ordering. I've walked jobs with a supervisor to find solutions to problems a piping system might have. On the occasion I have had to run a crew, making sure everyone stays busy progressing through a job, and leaving a turnover to whoever needs it.
