  • Note- this was my own company where I utilized everything that I had learned from a career of working both in retail and in construction, both of which were lifetime second and third generational family businesses, to which, I used to much success. and was the last full time career path that I had, that would be noted here as I effectively retired from any full time activity in april of 2012 as a career of working one full time, and one part time job together, for more than fifteen years straight had taken its toll physically and my family, and I decided that it was time for me to retire and just generate income part time .

  • Note- by this point in time, the building boom in florida had come to a screeching halt, and this company, which I worked in with several family members, lost a major land bid to continue construction and started laying off superintendents, so I jumped to a small but high end company building much larger homes, 7 figure custom homes, which inevitably also ended up no longer building within a year and went bankrupt.

Frozen Food Manager

  • Addressed any maintenance issues within the department promptly, ensuring proper functioning of equipment.
  • Stayed informed about industry trends by attending trade shows or reading relevant publications.
  • Provided exceptional customer service through prompt assistance, addressing concerns, and offering recommendations on frozen food selections.

*Note - when I took on the frozen food department at this particular walmart between three frozen coolers, including meat , bakery and the frozen food department, as well as an ice cream cooler, they had more than fifty two pallets, full of frozen backstock in various forms of being outdate or damaged.

When walmart's automatic ordering system would bring in a new truck every single day, you could not physically put the order into your freezer because it was full to the door and three pallets high ,stacked in the steel.

It took me four months to get through all of the frozen and damaged product , fix three double sided aisles , and six full sided frozen end caps, while trying to maintain the company's very strict plannogram and forcing out product from the back room so new stock could actually get into the coolers.

In this process of constantly working this excessive amount of freight by myself, as they could not get the two part timers who were allotted for my department hired for that position, I ended up having an emergency hernia surgery.

The surgery ended up having complications that put me out for a number of months, that the store, the company , and all of the management team was kept appraised of once a week through my healing, however, corporate changed all three store managers at the same time ,and they were sent to various other locations, when they left, they never informed new management of my situation, so when I returned to work, I was labeled as job abandonment, which was inevitably fixed when corporate was able to get ahold of those managers and the documents that I had submitted for being out for this emergency surgery, but by that time, several months had gone by, and I had already gained employment elsewhere since they wouldn't put me back to work until that was fixed.

This was a terrible waste of the time effort and literal pain that I put into fixing what was years of neglect in this department.

  • Provided exceptional customer service through prompt assistance, addressing concerns, and offering recommendations on frozen food selections.
  • Reduced waste and pursued revenue development strategies to keep department aligned with sales and profit targets.
  • Note- unfortunately, I knew that this position would not be long lasting as this company was on its way out when I joined, and shortly thereafter, we noticed the cutting of hours. And the normal things that you see when a business is going under, so I left to join walmart and shortly after I did, weeks, this company was closed for good.

  • Maintained a clean and organized store environment through meticulous attention to detail and consistent oversight.
  • Note- I entered this position as just a stock clerk while hoping to get back into the construction trade, which was booming in Flrida at this time but not knowing the area or having any connections
  • Not even two weeks into this job, four out of the five members, excluding myself of the night crew, failed to show up to pack out the truck, and of which I took it on myself to empty that truck downstack the entirety of the grocery load. And actually throw the entire grocery truck cut and marked myself in a single night, while simultaneously leveling down the store, cleaning the back room and reloading the truck with pallets and bales in what would be a thirteen hour overnight shift for me.
  • The following morning, I was promoted directly to night crew manager by the district manager and the store manager, who then gave me an entirely new night crew, and after two years of giving them countless company records for that store, but being passed over for promotion four separate times, i was forced to have a discussion with upper management as to why that was.
  • Sadly, after that much effort put into this company and that much pride in my work, I was told that until I could find someone as dedicated to the job as I was, who could be counted on to do the same things that I had been doing, they would continue to promote people around me and leave me in this key spot of reliability as it was best for the store, which prompted me to give them my two weeks notice.Knowing full well that they would keep me here in this position. For as long as it suited their needs and giving me no option of upward movement, less than a year later, the company had gone out of business and was bought and sold by kroger.
