Work History

Lab Technician

Hexpol Compounding
Statesville, NC
07.2025 - 05.2026
  • I Have 11 Months of Forklift Experience under my belt.
  • As a lab technician I have experience with an array of different machines, and many different testing methods. Furthermore, I will now provide all of these machines and the experience I have with them.
  • MV 2000 (Mooney Viscometer 2000) used to measure viscosity, and cure time of rubber compounds.
  • Tape Extruder Testing(Dispersion tester)
  • Tube Extruder( Used to make tubes in order to check blown density for sponge compounds in the rubber industry, and to check for porosity( moisture inside of rubber compounds).
  • AT10 Tensile Tester(Used to measure peak stress, and strain of an array of materials.) Also used to measure tear for rubber compounds.
  • Instron T2020 Tensile Tester( See note above, used for the same purpose as the AT10.)
  • Lab MIII( Used to mill uncured rubber, and make tensile plates to test Tensile, and tear tests following the ASTM standards.
  • Moisturizer Machines (Used in the rubber industry to measure the moisture % of the soap used on uncured rubber, and can be used as well to test the moisture % in Carbon black( Chief reinforcing agent in rubber compounds.)
  • Density Machines (I have used two different types of these machines, but they are very similar. They both measure the amount the rubber weighs(air), then takes that number and logs it into our system, and then measures how much the rubber weighs while displaced in water to give us our initial blown density(Sponge Compounds), and our specific gravity density for( Dense compounds.)
  • Hardness(Durometer) Tester- Used to measure the displacement that the hardness point or needle on the machine punctures the rubber, overall giving us our specific Hardness or durometer.
  • Wabash Single Press ( The wabash single press works by using a singular plate mold, and a button mold to fully cure our rubber products to test hardness, and Density. This press uses two platens in order to press the rubber into the mold, and bump all the air out while curing the rubber at a specific time, and temperature based on our customers needs.
  • Aguila Double Press (The Aguila double press works very similarly, but instead of using a singular mold, and a small button mold the double press works by using a two plate mold process, while having a larger surface area with the button molds allowing one to cure more material this way.)
  • Lab ovens( Ovens that are used for shelf life studies, or to fully cure some materials based on whatever the customer wants.
  • Hydraulic Press( Used to cut out specific shapes( dumbbells) to test for our tensile and tear tests based on ASTM standards.
  • MDR's (Moving die rheometers are used to measure multiple different aspects in the rubber field, such as Viscosity, and Cure time, but they are more complex, and can give us a faster result of how our material is doing compared to a MV2000.)
  • Conducted testing and analysis of raw materials to ensure quality compliance.
  • Operated laboratory equipment, maintaining accuracy and safety standards.
  • Recorded and documented test results, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
  • Assisted in developing standard operating procedures for laboratory processes.
  • Collaborated with team members to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions efficiently.
  • Maintained documentation on tests performed in lab.

Mill Helper

Hexpol Compounding
Statesville, NC
08.2024 - 06.2025
  • As a Mill helper, I packaged material and labeled it based on our customers needs and demands, safely and efficiently to ensure our Customer got a good quality product.
  • As a Mill helper I was often using a stacker machine which automatically stacked rubber compounds into boxes for our customer, and I also had experience on a mill as well where material dropped out of a mixer is blended and strained based on how our customer wants their material.

Certification

  • Briggs and Stratton Small Engines Certification Date Issued: March 2024 This certification does not expire Even though I had to complete a lengthy certification process, it was worthwhile since I now know more about tiny engines and the precise elements of a smaller engine in case something goes wrong. Examples of tiny machinery include concrete mixers, lawnmowers, generators, and others.
  • OSHA 10 Date issued: October 2023 This license does not expire This was covered in my Agriculture Mechanics II course, where students were required to access the Osha-10 website, complete courses, view videos, and pass tests based on their understanding of how to warn employees about common health and safety risks while on the job.
  • Driver’s License - Full Driver’s License issued: March 4, 2024 - Expires 10/07/27
