I am Selesa Johnson-Daniels, a proud educator from the beautiful island of Jamaica, with 22 years of experience teaching grades 3-6 in Jamaica and Bertie County Schools in North Carolina, USA. I hold a BSc in Educational Leadership and Middle Grades, an MEd in Elementary Education. My passion lies in fostering the holistic development of my students, and I take great pride in guiding them from foundational levels to academic success through intentional planning, data-driven instruction, and the use of effective and engaging tools and strategies.
Throughout my career, I have been honored with several recognitions for my dedication to education. I have consistently ranked in the top 25% for student growth in math at both the state and district levels and have received awards for Outstanding Teaching Performance. In 2022, I had the privilege of representing my district at the AIMS_NCDPI State Conference and the NorthEast Regional Education Service Alliance Fall Leadership Conference (NERESA), where I presented on Aggressive Monitoring and Exemplars. In November 2024, I was named the most outstanding elementary math teacher for my school district at the North Carolina Council for Teachers of Mathematics conference. Most recently, in January 2025, I was recognized again for being in the top 25% for student growth in both Math and ELA.
In my classroom, I strive to create a space where learning is both engaging and challenging. I am committed to fostering a supportive and dynamic environment that empowers students to reach their fullest potential. Collaboration is central to my practice, and I genuinely value working with fellow educators to ensure student success. Teaching is more than a career for me—it is my passion and calling. I am deeply committed to making a positive and lasting impact on every student I have the privilege to teach.
