Dana Elzayat Jeter

I am currently working as a triage RN for Novant Health Care Connections. I have gained experience in assessing patients across the lifespan including pregnant women, pediatric patients, surgical patients as well as adult patients. I am further developing my critical thinking skills by accurately assessing symptoms and providing appropriate dispositions.

I am currently a Family Nurse Practitioner student at the University of North Alabama with an expected graduation date of August 1st 2025. I have gained an immense amount of knowledge and education from my professors and clinical preceptors. I have completed three 8 week rotations at Ballantyne Medical Associates, an 8 week rotation at Carmel OBGYN and finally my last 8 week rotation will be at Family Urgent Care.

• I have worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neurosurgical ICU at a level II trauma center. My role involved caring for a variety of patients including patients suffering from strokes, neurological trauma, seizures, brain tumors and those undergoing different Neuro-surgeries and procedures. I have mastered the management of external ventricular drains and lumbar drains. Furthermore, I am proficient in comprehensive neurological exams as well as hemodynamic monitoring.

• I worked as a remote telephone triage RN with Carenet Healthcare. I gained triage experience for a wide range of patients including pediatric and adult patients.

• I am currently working in the Endoscopy department at Atrium Health. I provide care for patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, bronchoscopies and ERCPs. I work in the admitting department, assisting in the procedures and also in the recovery department.

• I worked as a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Trauma ICU at Atrium Health Main. I provided competent nursing care to critically ill patients. I have grown a passion to gain knowledge and skills to be able to care for these patients, I have developed my critical thinking skills past my expectations. I am now able to manage trauma and surgical patients who need emergent interventions that range from airway management, cardiac arrests, unstable hemodynamics and life-threatening conditions. I have also assisted in bed side procedures such as bedside OR, central and arterial line insertions, pulmonary artery catheter insertions, ventricular drain insertions and the monitoring of these devices.

• I worked on 5 Tower at Atrium Health Main providing nursing care for medical and postoperative surgical patients. I have become proficient in patient care tasks that include medication administration, tracheostomy care, IV insertion, NG tube insertion, and more. I have become skillful in conducting physical assessments, advocating for my patients and family members and using critical thinking skills for problem-solving.
