Here is the story of my journey to becoming the owner of my own insurance brokerage, which, since inception has employed more than 80 sales representatives, part time and full time.
After completing school, I enrolled in university to study law but did not complete my degree. Instead, I started working at a very young age in the retail industry as a sales executive in the cosmetics section for Edgars. Following this, I worked for an estate agent, selling houses and managing rental of houses and apartments. I then took employment with an IT company, selling PCs, photocopy machines, and cellular phones.
After gaining valuable experience in the IT field, I transitioned into long-term insurance as a sales executive, selling life cover, funeral policies, investment- and retirement annuity plans. This path ultimately led me to open my own insurance brokerage in 2021, and I have never looked back. Being a people's person drove me to choose this career path.
Having my own business was not easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. Making a difference in people's lives is what drives me. Happy and satisfied clients inspire me to do more and excel in the field of insurance. I would not have achieved this success without my love for interacting with people and making a difference in the lives of others.
By being in the retail industry, it gave me great experience in developing sales skills and a keen understanding of customer service and client satisfaction.
I have established Trustegic Financial Solution (PTY)Ltd in 2021 and after undergoing a strict and strenuous application process through the FSCA, my licence to operate was approved September 2021 and I was authorized to employ Representatives and sell insurance products as contracted by various Insurance Companies.
I currently have 3 contracts with major insurance companies to market and sell their products, of which Old Mutual is our main business partner.
My initial challenge was navigating the complexities of starting a business, building a strong team, building a client base from scratch, and establishing a trusted brand in the competitive insurance market.
I overcame these challenges by being resilient and hard working and also by cultivating a healthy and conducive working environment for all of my employees.
It is with tremendous gratitude that I have grown from a solo operation to a thriving insurance brokerage employing a substantial number of sales Representatives.
My vision for the future is to expand and grow the team and client base to every province of the country, as we are currently only operation in three provinces currently.
I would also like to diversify within the insurance industry, which will ultimately lead to manufacturing and training, thus more employment opportunities.
