  • As a 1:1 for 2 different students I had different jobs that a normal assistant would not have. I had to catheterize my first one one as he had spina bifida. I had to to watch him during recess as he was in a wheelchair. I was this student for 2 years. My next students as a 1:1 was a male with CP. He was wheelchair bound, non verbal, still in diapers, had various health issues I had to familiarize myself with. He had an EYE GAZE system which when he could calibrate he could hear the reading passages. For his spelling test he would calibrate and I would call out his words. He would look at the letters to type. I was able to accommodate his studies down to his level so he could participate with the class. I was with this student for 5 years age 11-16.
