Work History

Hostess/Server

Cajun Queen
01.2017 - Current

Throughout my six years of restaurant work I have cultivated warm relationships with regular customers, resolved customer complaints promptly and professionally to maintain positive reputation, answered customers' questions, recommended items, and recorded order information, as well as the dynamics of working in a fast-paced stressful environment.

Internship Student

Hospitality House-community Shelter
01.2023 - 05.2023

Worked 32 hours a week throughout the spring semester to complete my BSW. Completed Intakes and VI-SPDATs for clients entering the shelter. In March I took over the CC (combined component) program where I worked one-on-one with clients to help them with any barriers that they face and helped them with the process to find adequate housing. Gained experience working with the homeless population in rural North Carolina helping individuals access the resources they need to find housing as well as things like SNAP benefits, HUD, and other resources.

Volunteer

Hunger And Homeless Coalition
08.2021 - 12.2021

Provided assistance with packaging food for weekly pickups, preparing lunch bags for student pickups, sorting weekly food deliveries from local stores, etc. Gained experience in helping relieve poverty in a struggling community and compassion for those suffering from food shortage hardships.

Summer Nanny

Carr Family
05.2020 - 08.2021

Provided nanny services for 1 child age 12 for 40 hours a week. Provided assistance in school work and outside activities that he needed to attend. Gained experience in time management of balancing school and work, the responsibility of a child, housekeeping, and pet care for two dogs and a cat.

Volunteer

Dilworth Center
02.2019 - 05.2019

Sat in on family group therapy sessions for families whose kids struggle with addiction as well as filing/paperwork and other observational work. Gained experience in learning the dynamics of a Chemical Dependency Center, the procedures that go into sobriety and sober living, as well as how this program has positively affected individuals who have completed the program.

Volunteer

Harris YMCA Leaders Club
01.2019 - 05.2019

Participated in weekly meetings and activities that helped to improve the community. This led to an end goal of hosting a homeless dinner for the local homeless shelter. We spent the semester raising money, reaching out to local businesses/restaurants, making decorations, and creating games and activities for the children at the event.
