Collaborated with individuals within the organization as well as local artists to develop a Disability Justice curriculum centered around the visual arts called Torchlight.
The goal of Torchlight, which was generously hosted by the Scrap, is to provide students with IDD: vocational opportunities through the arts, empowerment through education about disability history and models of disability, and opportunity to express themselves in ways that may be more accessible than written or verbal communication.
Most public high schools do not allow for students in specialized classrooms to participate in art classes. We have begun working on manualizing Torchlight so that classrooms, camps, programs, etc can access this curriculum for free.
